A word about snow measurements... "Snowfall" is the sum of all observed
measurements for the event - it is not the amount actually on the ground at
any given time. For the maximum amount on the ground at a given time,
please refer to the "Snow Depth" field. A "Trace" indicates snow reached
the surface, but either did not accumulate, or accumulated less than a tenth
of an inch.
Snow begins to settle immediately after falling. When and how the snow is
measured will greatly impact the final numbers for event. For this reason,
the National Weather Service instituted snowfall measurement guidelines.
